ELTS-CAMELTA NW Holds ANNUAL AGM/PEDAGOGIC SEMINAR

ELTS-CAMELTA North West held its Annual General Meeting/Pedagogic Seminar on Friday 24th November 2023 in the auditorium of Alliance Française, Bamenda. Inspired by the theme, “Digitalization in ELT, from Theory to Practice”, participants and presenters exchanged ideas and shared best practices during three plenaries and four workshops.

Welcoming participants to the one day annual rendezvous, Regional Chapter President, Valentine Akah, emphasized that the seminar was intended to upgrade colleagues’ skills by keeping them abreast with current trends in the teaching and learning of English Language and Literature in English. After the North West Regional Delegate for Secondary Education had re-echoed the importance of boarding the digital train, Dr. Fonka Hans delivered a keynote presentation on the seminar theme. He laid out the multiple stakes and diverse contexts that necessitate every ELT practitioner’s wholehearted embrace of and investment in the digitalization of pedagogic practices. Plenary Sessions focused on:

  • Getting the Basics Right: Using Two Important Digital Tools Central to Digital Lesson Design
  • Developing a Sample Digital CBA English Language and Literature in English lesson
  • New Syllabus Content and Expectations for 0730 Advanced Level English

After the plenaries, participants took part in workshops on the following themes:

  • Composition Writing
  • Teaching Literature in Lower Forms
  • A/L Literature in English
  • Professional English

Over 170 teachers drawn from schools within the region attended the seminar.
